Dalida María Benfield is
a filmmaker, art educator and doctoral student in Ethnic Studies at
University of Berkeley. Benfield's current research interests include:contemporary
film, video and new media art production as a praxis of popular education
and social movement; transnational/translational cultural studies; decolonization
and global information flows; interdisciplinary feminist research. Benfield
received a B.A. in Communication Arts: Radio/Television/Film from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received a M.F.A. in Studio Art
with an emphasis in Video/Film, at the School of the Art Institute of
Chicago. She is formerly an Associate Professor of Art Education at
the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, taught performance and video
art at the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign, and has worked with
multiple community-based media centers in the U.S. and internationally.
